Pictures of Close Planetary Alignments
These pictures/Images are generally taken by mounting my Nikon film Camera piggy back on my LX 200.  However, I have also taken pictures using my barn door camera mount.  These thumbnail pictures are large so you can see the alignments.    They will link you to a larger and higher resolution picture.  These larger pictures may take over a minute to download.  You can also see a list of close planetary alignments at this page.  Use your browsers back button to come back here.

Planetary Alignments 12-16 Jun 1991

This series of photos show the movement and closest approach of Jupiter, Mars and Venus during the summer of 1991.

In the top photo the planets are to the left just clearing the tree.

In the middle photo, they are centered in the photo and the crescent moon has entered the show.

The closest grouping occurred on 16 Jun 1991.  The moon is to the left behind some clouds.  These were taken with my Nikon camera and 100mm lens.  The Nikon was riding on my Barn Door astro tracker.  That's why the fore ground objects trailed

The 2010 conjunction occurred on 7/31/2010  It was taken with my Canon EOS 50D hand held at ISO 3200.
