This
image was taken on 23 Dec 1999. This was the last full moon of 1999.
I tried using the Orion MAK 500 because I wanted to get the entire moon
on the chip in one image. This proved not possible so the image is
a composite of two separate images combined in Photoshop. I had to
stop the 90 mm MAK 500 down to about 45 mm in order to take the image because
the full moon was so bright, that it was over loading the CCD, even with
the Orion Moon filter in place.
I initially referred to this photo as the Millennium Full Moon until I learned that I was one year too early. It's now properly named as the last full moon of 1999. See Millennium 2001 for an explanation why I had it wrong. |
