This image is my attempt to answer the question:  "What do things look like through a telescope"  I have taken the image of M-57 from above and adjusted it so that it approximates the visual appearance of M-57 through my 8" LX 200 using a 26 mm Plossel eyepiece.  Your impression may be different than mine if your skies are darker or if your eyes are better.  But with my magnitude 3.5 to 4 skies and nearly 60 year old eyes, this is just about what M-57 looks like to me.  Now you know why I almost always use the CCD.
