Lunar-Planetary Close Approaches (Appulses)
This table list dates and times when the Moon will pass within three degrees of a solar  system planet (I'm considering the Sun as a planet in this table) during the next year.    If the predictions are a little off, it's because the calculations were made a long time ago on my Apple //e.   The table lists the month, day,  and  year  for the close approach.  You will need to use a more accurate routine to determine the exact separation and Universal Time, but these will get you close.   The minimum separation distance is shown in degrees.   The diameter of the full Moon is about 1/2 a degree, so if the separation is near 0.5 in the table, there is a good chance you can see either a solar eclipse or the occultation of a major planet by the Moon.
