The Table

The table came from a "new product" article in Sky and Telescope called Table Tote. This is a small collapsible table that fit into a 13"x 11"x 2 inches package. It's legs extended to 30 inches and it could hold up to 20 pounds.   By using this table, the azimuth box could be tiny.  (11" x 7" x 8").

The Table Tote table is a small plastic table with telescoping legs.

This photo shows how the legs fit inside the table top for transport.

The table legs has a twist and latch mechanism.

They just slide in with no tools.

Table Legs

The table has no difficulty in holding the scope and mount (about 18 lbs).

There is some flex when you turn the scope in azimuth, but it returns to normal when you stop rotating the scope.  Since you are normally turning the scope based on the reading of the azimuth scale, the flex doesn't matter.

But keep in mind that this setup is designed for a rich field scope at 20-40 power.  It works very good in this application.  Don't try it with a 100-200 power scope.
