This image was created
by combining a total of 25 min worth of exposures while guiding on the
comet and 90 sec of exposures while guiding on the star
background. The images were blended together in Photoshop using
techniques described by Ron
Wodaski so as to remove
the trailed stars from the comet
image. The comet was near the horizon, so only the brighter coma
areas could be separated from the Washington DC light
pollution. Maybe a better image of the tail will appear
when the comet is higher in the sky. Click
