Animation  Io Emerging from Eclipse 20 Nov 99
This sequence of images show the movement of Jupiter and the moon Io over a period of about  one hour.  When the animation starts, Io is to the left of the planet, but hidden in Jupiter's shadow.   Io then moves out of the shadow and fully emerges in about 3 frames.  The actual time for this to occur was about 2 minutes.  You can also see the GRS move across the planets disk.      Click here to go back.
