Temple 2 is a dim periodic comet. The magnitude varies from about
10 to greater than 20. The period is about five years.

This image of comet Temple 2 was one of the early images I obtained after getting my LX 200 and MX-5C. Temple 2 just happened to be visible and bright in Jun 99. It was at magnitude 10 when this image was obtained. Temple 2 does not show a coma in this image, and the only way to determine which point of light is the comet is to compare it's position with the computed position and star charts. The position calculated for Temple 2 when the image was takes is RA: 17h 19m 29.2s and Dec -05 deg 13' 21". This image shows stars down to about magnitude 16. | Focal Ratio: f4 | ||
