M-102
This image was taken at the prime focus of my 8" f10 LX 200.    The image is a composite of a 5 and two 20 minute exposures guided with the STAR 2000 autotracker.  They were first color converted with the Starlight Express Pixcolm5 software and then combined in MaxIm DL and further processed  in MaxIm DL Photoshop.   Total exposure is 45 minutes.    I was experiencing  pretty severe light pollution the night I took this image.  I could just barely identify the magnitude 3.3 stars in the constellation Lyra and it was near the zenith.  I was therefore very happy to obtain this good of an image with only an 8-inch scope.  The STAR 2000 Autoguider performed perfectly guiding on the large star in the image (magnitude 11.3) even under these conditions.  I used a 6 second integration time.   Click here to go back.
