NGC
5746 is a medium brightness edge on galaxy in the constellation Virgo.
It's pretty easy to find by star hopping because it is only about 20 arc
min ( about 2/3 the width of the full moon) to the right of the 3.7 mag
star 109 Virgo. The Megastar screen capture shows the galaxy and
it relation to the 3.7 mag star. The numbers next to the stars are
the stars magnitude without a decimal point (37=3.7, 95=9.5, 119=11.9)
Use the quartet of stars (mag 9 through 11) just above the
galaxy to help locate it. It's surface brightness is low, but the
central core is probably bright enough to be seen with a six inch scope,
if you have dark skies and a 8 inch scope under suburban light pollution.
I could not see it in my 90 mm guide scope from my suburban location.
