Motion of GRS & Io 13 Oct 99
These  images show the rotation of Jupiter over a period of about one hour. In the top image, the GRS can be seen on the southern belt  to the left of center.  You can not see the moon Io because it is in front of the planet (in transet).  However, the shadow of Io can be seen on the southern belt just right of center.  In the bottom image, the GRS has moved just to the right of center, and the shadow has moved completely off of the planet.  But now you can see Io as a faint spot just to the right of Jupiter.   North is  up in this image.   Click here to go back.
