Jupiter & Io 25 Sep 99

This image was taken as the moon Io was starting to move towards Jupiter after coming around from the backside.  The image of Jupiter is blurred slightly by either a small focusing error or seeing effects of atmospheric turbulence.   However, you can see several belts, some white ovals and some features trailing off of the north tropical belt.  North is  up in this image.    Click here to go back.
