Venus is the
brightest object in the sky other than the Moon or the Sun. When
near it's maximum brilliance, Venus is so bright that airline pilots have
momentarily mistaken it as the approach lights of another airliner.
Unfortunately, you can not see any surface detail on Venus through the
telescope because Venus is shrouded in clouds. About all you can
see through an amateur scope is the changing of the phases.
